Why this exists
I got tired of being scared of my own taxes.
Not the math part — that's just numbers. The not-knowing part. The “did I miss something” part. The “is this deductible or am I about to get audited” part. The first-year-of-self-employment part where every receipt feels like a question I can't answer.
Here's what March used to look like for me. Six months of emails open in different browser tabs. Receipts photographed on my phone but never organized. A spreadsheet with two columns filled in. A suspicion I was missing deductions but no clear way to find out which ones. And a deadline closing in.
Filing what you already know isn't the hard part. Knowing what to file is. Standard tax software doesn't catch the things you didn't know to look for.
So I built Canuck-Tax. Upload a document any time of year and the AI reads it, organizes it, and flags what's deductible. It tracks your RRSP and TFSA room before deadlines. It shows you the CRA rule for every suggestion so you're never trusting a black box. Not magic — just a system that pays attention so you don't have to.
